KINNEY TOPS BCRA LITE FIELD
by, Mark Sublett October 10, 2020 – Placerville, CA……”The Bandit” Scott Kinney from Roseville won the 25 lap Bay Cities Racing Association Midget Lite main event Saturday night during the “Prospector Pandemonium” event held at Placerville Speedway. After winning the 19th Midget Lite race of his career at Placerville the former series champion Kinney was quick to thank promoters Scott and Kami Arnold for their support of Northern California racing and for giving the BCRA Midget Lites a place to race in 2020. He went on to thank sponsor S&S Roofing and all the fans tuning into the live stream. Sixteen Midget Lites signed in with several long tows from the south making the trip to do battle on the well prepared 1/4 mile clay oval located at the El Dorado Fairgrounds in Placerville. When the green flag waved on the main event outside polesitter Eric Greco from Palmdale raced out to the lead with Scott Kinney and hometown hero Terry Bergstrom racing a close second and third. On lap three Kinney made an inside move on Greco to take over the lead in turn 3-4. Greco stayed on the rear nerf bar of the veteran Kinney the entire race distance and tried an outside move in turn 1-2 that looked to be his best shot to re take the lead but the yellow flag came out ending his run at the leader. Kinney lead the final laps as Greco mounted one last charge but got loose in turn four coming to the white flag allowing Kinney to stretch his lead to a little over a second at the checkered flag. Greco raced second with Bergstrom a strong third. Long time BCRA competitor Craig Holsted from Rancho Cordova raced fourth with Waterfords Dakota Albright an impressive fifth after spinning out early in the going. Danika Jo Parker finished sixth with Harlee Aguilera seventh. Veteran Dan Parker raced to eighth from fifteenth starting and Clovis’ Steve Roza moved up from thirteenth to ninth. Brandon Leedy from Lake Elsinor rounded out the top ten. Eight lap heat races were won by Bergstrom and Leedy. Turnbull III turned the fastest lap with a time of 13.122. No fans were allowed due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic but the race was streamed live on floracing. The next race for the BCRA Midget Lites is back at Placerville Speedway on November 19-21 as part of the undercard for the “Hangtown 100” USAC National Midget event.
